yep.. a Ukrainian folkore tradition.. we do this at camp...
it's a little long but involves fairies running through the woods at night... and other things
In the evening before the kids go looking for the fairies..
Girls make wreaths
Boys make ccrosses out of wood.
WHen a cross intersects with a wreath and candle... a match has been made.
You can imagine the goofiness when one involves teenagers aged 14-18 in this little piece of folklore.
Perhaps it doesn't belog on this particular blog... but ... fantasy is good... as is a bit of a dream

Lovely photo, too! Some of the older European traditions are so wonderful; it really connects us to our past.
