to all of you.

The Ukrainian Easter eggs - pysanky - translates into "writing" the egg. They are rich with symbols... most from pagan times, many tied to fertility and the rites of spring.
I never could write an egg.. oy! I don't have that kind of creativity and those who do are extremely talented. These were all done by people in my home town and my mom would "mail" me an egg every year. My dad did too for a couple of years but he's not good at that sort of thing. The eggs are for the most part all hollowed out - by blowing out the raw egg after the art has been done and the egg has been varnished.

Easter - spring renewal, a fresh start. It's the new year on the church calendar. Hope and time to start fresh.
